How to Use the DVD Disc – Carving Drive on DM8000 HD PVR
As we all know, DM8000 HD PVR is the most powerful Dreambox released by Dream Multimedia. It has many functions which are not possessed by other Dreambox. Be able to use the DVD Disc – Carving Drive must be one of these advanced functions.
Now, let's have a look at this function.
1.#Before we get to use this function, we have to install the disc – carving drive to DM8000 HD PVR. Now we choose to use the 8X DVD disc – carving drive AD – 7590S to finish this task. The AD – 7590S DVD drive is designed for the laptops which has a SATA port. It supports DVD – ROM, DVD – R, DVD – RW, DVD + RW and DVD + R (9) discs. Its burst transfer rate is 1.5 Gbps. We fix the DVD disc – craving drive inside DM8000 HD PVR and connect it to DM8000 HD PVR using a USB – eSATA wire. Since the power supply of the drive is not standard and the two plugs are two close, the process of plugging the power plug may cost some time.
2.#If the former step is finished, we go to the step of installing drive program for the DVD drive. The drive program is libdvdcss.so.2.1.0 under the catalog of /usr/lib. From the interface of Dreambox, we will be able to see the DVD drive is produced by Optiarc, a company founded by NEC and SONY.
3.#If the drive of the DVD drive is installed on DM8000 HD PVR, we can play DVD disc now. This process is simple. Just put the DVD disc into the drive and choose to run it in the main interface of DM8000 HD PVR. You can use the button on remote controller to stop or exit the DVD play.
4.#The DVD disc drive can play a VCD disc; however, Dreambox doesn't support this function. If you put a VCD disc in, the machine will give out an error message. If the DVD disc does not have the standard DVD files on, you can use the media player to play it, such as the TS stream.
5.#If we the DVD burn plug – in on DM8000 HD PVR, the machine will be able to carving a DVD disc using the DVD disc – carving drive.
6.#Someone may have the question that whether DM8000 HD PVR supports Blue – ray Drive or not. Unfortunately, DM8000 HD PVR doesn't support such function at present.
